A Day In The Life:

As a Senior Automation QA Engineer at Chaos Theory, your typical day might look like this:

Your morning kicks off with a team meeting to set priorities and address any challenges. You team up with a colleague to investigate and resolve a false positive in our testing framework, ensuring the accuracy of our test results.

Next, you dive into a critical project aimed at enhancing our automation framework's capabilities. This involves refining scripts for core features identified by the QA team, ensuring robust test coverage and efficiency.

Throughout the day, you collaborate closely with the development team, providing support for urgent fixes and feature testing as needed. Your expertise helps ensure a smooth development process and reduces manual efforts within peers.

In the afternoon, you lead a knowledge-sharing session, presenting updates to our testing methodologies and best practices. Your insights promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.

Your day concludes with a one-on-one session with your manager, where you discuss feedback and set goals for personal and professional growth. Your dedication to excellence and continuous improvement is instrumental in driving our team forward.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• A curious mindset and a willingness to explore new testing technologies and methodologies.
• Strong programming skills, particularly in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience with automation UI scripting and API testing, we are using Playwright.
• Experience with functional testing and test design.
• Proficiency in framework improvement and architecture, you know what page objects are and can build universal locators.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, we’re using Google Cloud Build and Github Actions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written) - we are an international team.

It’d be great — but not necessary — if you also had:

• Hands-on experience mentoring members of a QA team.
• Interest in technology, sports, gaming or cryptocurrencies.

You will be responsible for:

• Maintaining and enhancing our automation framework for UI regression, addressing technical debt and implementing improvements.
• Working on comprehensive script coverage for core features identified by the QA team, ensuring robust test coverage.
• Generating and distributing automation reports on a daily basis to all relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborating closely with the development team to perform urgent fixes and feature testing as required.
• Providing support to the QA team as needed to prevent any impediments in the development process.
• Actively contribute to reducing manual testing efforts within the QA team through automation initiatives.
